Michelle's 26.2 Miles for Travis
Hello Friends, Family, Rink Rats, Runners, and everyone in between...
This year I was accepted into the Chicago Marathon and I'm already looking forward to those 26.2 miles in the Windy City! Long-distance training has provided valuable time to reflect on how blessed I've been and, more importantly, how I can use my opportunities to give back.
It was an easy choice to team up with the Travis Roy Foundation as I work towards that finish line. Travis, like many people in my hockey-filled life, dreamed of being a college athlete. Unfortunately, his dream was taken in an instant following an accident that left him paralyzed during his very first shift as an NCAA player at Boston University. Despite the strong odds against him, Travis went on to live an inspiring and extraordinary life. His establishment of the TRF has bettered the lives of spinal cord injury survivors and has raised millions for scientific research.
NOW, this is where I'm humbly asking for your help. Just as a 26 mile run starts with a single step...my fundraising goal starts with a single dollar. This is a marathon, not a sprint, and every single dollar counts - that cannot be overstated! Any support that you're willing to give would be extremely appreciated and is going towards a phenomenal cause.
Above all else, please take time to read more about Travis' story and the incredible work that his Foundation has done over the years. I have no doubt that anyone could find inspiration from the life he lived....the world would be a better place if we had more Travis'.
