2020 Red Balloon Run & Ride

Welcome to Team TNT!

TNT is group of friends, families, and coworkers working together in the effort to help raise money for the Trauma/Neuro ICU unit at Children's Medical Center Dallas. In 2012 , we were able to raise a significant amount of money that has gone to help make life better for children as well as their families when faced with the life altering event of being a patient in the Trauma/Neuro ICU. We strive each and every day to help our kiddos get better and return to their normal activities as much as possible. TNT represents the love and compassion shared by all of us to help children and their families in difficult times. We work together, play together, cry together, and now Run & Ride together, all in the name of children.

This year we are again honored to have a previous patient and her family be the face of TNT. It started off as a normal day in May of 2010. Emmy was her usual self, playing and running like a typical princess does, with her older sister and younger brother. Suddenly, something changed, and Emmy didn't act like herself. She was having significant neurological changes, so her parents brought her into Children's Medical Center Dallas where she was soon transferred to the Trauma/Neuro ICU for close monitoring. In the blink of an eye, her world, as well as her family's, came to a drastic hault. She was suddenly diagnosed with ADEM, a disease that agressively attackedthe healthy tissue in her brain and was now fighting for her life. She immediately had a rapid decline in her condition and was a mystery to our medical team. We all had almost given up, and then a miracle happened. Her mother Karen, who is a nurse and her father Mike searched near and far to find a doctor that specialized in this type of disease. As luck would have it, her angel, Dr. Greenberg, was located right next door at UT Medical Center Dallas. With his help, Emmy became the first patient that the Trauma/Neuro ICU team used 23% hypertonic saline for swelling in her brain. She spent 31 days in the ICU before she was able to be discharged to rehab facility. After months of being in the hospital and going to outpatient physical therapy, Emmy is now known to us as our miracle princess. She is back to her old self, playing with her brother and sister, and continues to be the force behind what we do here at Children's. Please take time and watch this amazing video montage that her father Mike has posted.

TNT will also be running, riding, and fundraising in honor of a true friend, collegue, and mentor who has touched us all throughout the years, Lisa Milonovich, RN PCCNP.  Her wisdom, compassion, and dedication for making life better for children will all remain with all of us who have had the honor of working with her.  Her legacy lives in all of us and her presence will never be forgotten.  We love you Lisa!

What is Passion for Children's?

Passion for Children's is a grassroots fundraising campaign, designed for people of all ages, for the exclusive benefit of Children's Health. We encourage participants to pledge to raise a minimum of $100 annually, and choose a specific program, service, clinic and/or research center to benefit from their fundraising.
