Join Participants at National Youth Event Speak out for Justice in Public Education

NYE Public Education signA group of middle and high school students at the United Church of Christ’s National Youth Event created a letter to be sent to the President, Congress, and the Secretary of Education to protest that in this election year virtually no candidates are talking about the major issues they notice in their public schools.

They ask for a fairer method for evaluating students, teachers, and schools than the standardized testing mandated by No Child Left Behind, and they ask for adequate funding to strengthen work with parents, teachers and students.  Their comments as primary stakeholders in public schools name today’s educational injustices.

The students want to see their public schools supported and improved.  As the students point out, their generation will determine the future of our society.

If you are a student, please join your peers by sending their letter to Congress, the President, and the Secretary of Education. Click here.

If you are an adult, and would like to be in solidarity with our youths, please send this adaptation of their letter.
