“We have inherited a large house, a great ‘world house’ in which we have to live together - black and white, Easterner and Westerner, Gentile and Jew, Catholic and Protestant, Muslim and Hindu - a family unduly separated in ideas, culture and interest, who, because we can never again live apart, must learn somehow to live with each other in peace.”
   -  Martin Luther King, Jr., from his final book Where Do We Go from Here: Chaos or Community? (1968)

The Great World House, Lee’s second study on Martin Luther King, Jr., explores the possibilities of King’s ethics, based on his “great world house” concept, as a resource for constructive global ethics. It continues a conversation initiated in Lee’s previous book We Will Get to the Promised Land: Martin Luther King, Jr.’s Communal-Political Spirituality, taking the theme of communal-political dynamics to a global context. Seminarians, professors, and those interested in research on Martin Luther King, Jr. will benefit from this valuable analysis.

Hak Joon Lee is associate professor of theology and ethics at New Brunswick Theological Seminary. He received his M.Div., Th.M., and Ph.D. from Princeton Theological Seminary, and is an ordained minister in the Korean Presbyterian Church of America (KPCA). Lee is the author of We Will Get to the Promised Land: Martin Luther King, Jr.’s Communal-Political Spirituality (The Pilgrim Press, 2006).
