Caring For Ourselves: While Caring For Our Elders shares the true stories of family members who are caring for elderly loved ones. Caring For Ourselves: While Caring For Our Elders gives an overview of some of the psychological issues involved in contemporary elder care, and the second chapter approaches some overarching biblical themes. Following these introductory sections are 25 brief yet edifying chapters that tell the stories of some remarkably honest people who are caring for elderly loved ones. Each story is paired with a passage from the scriptures that shares some key points of resemblance. The stories are also accompanied by a short psychological commentary on each situation, some biblical background for the text, and questions for discussion or reflection. An "assignment" is given for each chapter - a brief activity for the week, a light and non-verbal way to integrate one or more of the issues in the contemporary story or the biblical story. Each chapter concludes with a prayer for those who share some aspect of this situation. Maren Tirabassi, Maria Tirabassi & Leanne McCall Tigert hope that you will be inspired and strengthened, and as a result, your elderly loved ones will benefit.
