The First Amendment Doesn't Stop at the Lab Room Door: Let Scientists Speak
Scientists at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) use our tax dollars to ensure our health products are safer and more effective. What we learn from these scientists about their research can mean the difference between life and death.
Yet FDA scientists do not have the essential protections that allow them to share their research and expertise with the public and the media. While the FDA made some progress during the president's first term, recent analysis from the Union of Concerned Scientists found that the FDA's media policies still fail to provide the key provisions that allow scientists to speak freely.
Urge the FDA to develop strong traditional and social media policies to allow scientists to more effectively share their research and expertise with the public.
