Lift the Sunset on Oregon's Clean Fuels Program
Oregon has an innovative policy on the books that is speeding the development of cleaner alternatives to oil, such as electricity and the cleanest biofuels and biogas, while discouraging dirtier fuels such as tar sands. Unfortunately, Oregon's Clean Fuels Program will expire at the end of 2015 unless the legislature votes to renew it.
If the program continues, it will cut the global warming emissions from Oregon's transportation fuels by 10 percent over 10 years. The Clean Fuels Program evaluates every kind of fuel based on the heat-trapping emissions generated in each stage of the fuel's production and use, helping shift our transportation system to cleaner fuels that produce less pollution.
The Clean Fuels Program is a critical solution to cutting our oil use and is creating opportunities for economic growth in Oregon. After all, the state has no oil production or refining, but it does have a growing biofuels industry. Oregon should take this critical opportunity to give clean fuels the green light for years to come.
Please urge your legislators to continue Oregon's Clean Fuels Program.

I am writing to urge you to support SB 1570, a bill that would lift the 2015 sunset on Oregon's Clean Fuels Program (CFP).
