Tell Congress to Stand Strong Against President Trump's Proposed Budget
President Trump has set forth his priorities in the so-called "skinny budget," a proposal to Congress to increase military spending by $54 billion, and to do so by cutting science-based programs that protect our health and our communities.
Low-income communities and communities of color would be hit especially hard by the White House's ideas, including pollution reduction for cars, trucks, and buses. Scientific research and climate related funding would be cut in multiple agencies, hurting our ability to prepare communities for climate impacts and impeding the use of sound science in our government's decisionmaking.
Furthermore, the proposed budget does not fit with our values as a nation: we can't cut programs that make our lives healthier to finance a border wall to keep people out. This is not acceptable.
This is just the first move in the budget process—time will tell how Congress responds.
That's why now is the perfect time to say to Congress, loud and clear, that they must reject the attacks on science and our health and safety in President Trump's proposed budget—write your members of Congress today.

President Trump's so-called "skinny budget" is an unacceptable proposal, one that sacrifices programs we deeply need, would be especially harmful to low-income people and communities of color, and would hurt our ability to use the best available science to inform our government's work.
