Welcome to Johnny's Page!
Please support the Bennett Blazers in the Roar for Kids!
Since Johnny was two years old, we have been driving him to Baltimore to participate in the Bennett Blazers adaptive sports program. The motto of the coaches, Gwena and Gerry Herman, is "Teach kids with disabilites they can, before they are told they cannot."
Johnny has participated in a wheelchair basketball tournament and his first official swim meet this year! Coach Gwena would love to buy some more special basketball wheelchairs for the kids on Johnny's Novice team.
Bennett has opened up a world of possibilities for us and so many other families with children with physical disabiliites. He looks forward to playing on sports teams as he grows up, just as his sisters do. Equally important for us, Bennett gives him a community where he is not alone in his disability. He is an athlete at Bennett, not the kid in the wheelchair.
This program operates on a shoestring budget and does so much. Know that every dollar that goes to the Bennett Blazers will make the difference in the life of a child with a disability and their families.
