Cycle of Life Tour. YEAR 6
Hello All!
Well we meet again, for the 6th time! Cycle of Life Tour- July 2022. If you know me you know this ride is very near and dear to heart and it is something I will continue to participate in to help raise money for such a important service- Hospice Care on Vancouver Island. We all know the last couple years brought us many curve balls and hurdles to over come which we continue to tackle. But as we know places like all of our beautiful Hospice’s on Vancouver Island have continued to run throughout supporting family’s and patients though a very vulnerable part of their life. Hospice has continued to create support and comfort for patients at their end of life and Hospice continues to need outside funding and money raised from such events as these. This year we are planning for a in-person 200km ride and I couldn't be MORE EXCITED.
Currently I am working full time as a LPN Community Nurse in the Comox Valley-which fortunately includes palliative care at home. Whether a client is choosing to pass away at home or transfer to hospice when they reach that time it continues to be where my heart is in nursing. I was asked the other day why do you continue to do this ride year after year of course I have many reasons one of course being my love for Palliative nursing. But most of you know my #1 reason which is my mom, Denise- who has now been gone for almost 9 years. When I hear the number 9 it shocks me, I feel as though it was yesterday and I still continue to miss her and I still continue to push my self to make my mom proud. I ride with my moms silk scarf behind me each year as this leaves me with a feeling she is pushing me along and with me every step of the way. This year with hurt in the heart I will now be riding for my best friends Mom Janet. She passed away in January this year and it is a hurt I wish my friend Colette's heart didn't have to feel this soon in life.
Year after year I am always overjoyed with the support I receive from friends, family and colleges. It is another reason I love this ride and as years go on and I continue to receive support from the same people it warms my heart even more. Whether is a small donation or a larger one anything truly helps for such a important cause in our community. My self and my determined team here in the Comox Valley “Cyclepaths” will be out in the community using safe protocols to fundraise money and also educate people on our Hospice services in the Comox Valley. Please stay tuned in ways to support these events or please click on my link and donate what ever you feel comfortable with as I know this last year as been a challenge for some. My goal will be to make it to $5000. I know it seems high but I know I can do it.
Thank you all so much from the bottom of my heart - there are no words to express how grateful I am.
