I'm Rachel and I ride with the Cowichan Life Cyclers.

I am one of a hundred cyclists riding the Cycle of Life Tour, an amazing fundraiser for Hospice Care here on Vancouver Island. Amazing because all one hundred cyclists are training and will ride a challenging 100 kilometres back to back on July 20 and 21, 2024, pedalling through the Saanich Peninsula, the Cowichan Valley and Salt Spring Island.  

It's a fundraiser that hurts!  

It's equally amazing that all riders combined have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for Hospice Care over the years of the COLT Ride through the support of so many generous people like you.   These funds help even more folk at one of the most distressing times of life:  end of life care. 

 It's a fundraiser for those who hurt! 

For this my second COLT ride, I've promised to raise $1000 for Hospice Care right here in my home town of Duncan.  But again, it's amazing that this same cause touched my life so recently...

Last year, my brother, chronically ill and on dialysis in hospital for more than ten months, chose to go home to die.  His one wish was to be surrounded by family.  With palliative caregivers, he passed peacefully in his own living room with his wife, siblings and children gathered around. Hospice care gave him and us that gift.  

So this year, I dedicate my ride to my brother, Paul.  Amazingly, it was this brother who taught me to ride a bike. I love cycling and even when I'm tired at kilometre 182, I'm glad to put every push into fueling this cause.  

Your donation is not for this ride but for all those who journey at end of life.  Every dollar raised stays here on Vancouver Island to support local hospices. Your gift, large or small, will help offer comfort and care for so many.
