Welcome to Robin's Cycle of Life Fundraising Page
On July 20-21, I will be riding over 200km to raise funds for hospice care on Vancouver Island.
I started in 2022 when I rode the Camino del Norte and wanted to keep the momentum going. I'm also riding for the CMHA Ride Don't Hide Victoria in June, and the Cycle of LIfe Tour is the crown jewel of the summer.
It’s still a cause I believe in. My mum's last days in March 2006 were in the Victoria Hospice. Vancouver Island hospices provide end-of-life palliative care, counselling, bereavement support, and at-home care to over 12,000 patients and family members each year. Despite the value of their services, none are fully funded by the health care system. The care and comfort they provide is only possible because of generous community support.
I’ve reupped my goal and promised to raise at least $3000 to help keep Vancouver Island hospice care in motion, but I still need your support. My team's bottle drive and spinathon raised about 10% of that for my participation, and the rest comes from my generous friends and family. Our team is getting together for a barbeque the week before the ride to celebrate our fundraising success and enjoy each other's company. We didn't manage many group rides, but had quite a few partial group rides, which is a joyful thing to do on the south island, whether it's through the forested hills of the highlands or the sparkling seasides of the Saanich Peninsula or the bike trails of the Galloping Goose, the Lochside Trail or the E&N Rail Trail.
As of July 13, I've ridden a whopping 1603 km (not counting weekly commutes) so I am as ready as I will ever be. That includes the 100km for Ride Don't Hide and my recent holiday on the Sunshine Coast, where I saw a black bear during my last morning ride!
Every donation, no matter what the size, will make a big difference and you will receive a tax-receipt (in Canada) for $20 or more. Simply click on the donate now to make your donation today!
