I’m walking in Hike for Hospice to raise funds and awareness for Victoria Hospice. The bereavement services at Victoria Hospice have been a big help to me in coping with the loss of Shelley, my partner of 38 years. My grief counsellor has been outstanding and a huge help to me. The people I met in the bereavement group I attended have given me tremendous support. They truly understand and care.  They are my fellow walkers on the team called FIREFLIES.

I  also do volunteer work with Victoria Hospice to further show my appreciation for all they have done for me. Hospice provides specialized care to enhance quality of life for those living with terminal illnesses. They also support the families with counselling and bereavement support. Despite the value of their care, roughly 50% of Victoria Hospice’s annual budget must be raised through community support.
